Parents and Guardians;
-Today the grade 5 and 6 classes attended St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. The student's listened to Father Peter explain the Ukrainian Religious customs to our children. We learned a great deal about the Ukrainian Catholic traditions. The student's also enjoyed a homemade lunch of perogies, cabbage rolls, hot dogs, sugar cookies and an assortment of beverages.
-Report Cards will be going home on Friday, parents who wish to see me can do so on Monday December 14th from 4 until 6pm. Parents will be received at a first come first serve basis. Those parents who would like to talk with me and have the flexibility to reschedule a meeting or conversation at a later date are encouraged to do so. Please write your preference on the third page of the report card when returning it to school on Monday December 14th. I will contact those of you who would rather talk over the phone or meet on another day.
Note: As per the Ministry of Education; The Provincial Standard
Level 3 (which corresponds to B– to B+ or 70 per cent to 79 per cent) is the
provincial standard. Level 3 is a high level of achievement of the provincial
curriculum expectations. Parents of students achieving at level 3 in a particular
grade can be confident that their child will be prepared for the next grade.
-We are fortunate to have a tutor working with some of our student's every day until Christmas. She will be helping those of us who are having some difficulty with math and language.
-Can you believe it!! Only four weeks until the Christmas Break. Many things are happening up until that last day of school. We will soon begin practicing for our Christmas Concert. Also, some student's asked if we could have "Secret Santa" this year. I thought it was a good idea, so on December 1st we will pick names for our secret Santa. The amount allowed (maximum) for a gift is $5.00.
-Report cards are going home on December 11th. Parent's interviews will be held on Monday December 14th.
- On December 18th, our class will be going to the Sudbury Theater Center to see "Sleeping Beauty". Permission forms and medical forms will be sent home in December. The cost for this trip is once again $10.00 per student.
-The permission form and the health form required for our field trip are in the "documents" link. Print off the permission form and the health form and return to school by Wednesday. The cost of the trip is $10.00 and it is non-refundable. Student's are expected to complete a writing activity for the following day.
-A new book report is due for December 18th. This report is on a science fiction novel.
