Spelling words: city, community, countries, exciting, getting, laughed,
schools, pretty, prettier, prettiest, was, to, too, two
Cathcart's Homework Policy- Students should only have up to 10 minutes of
homework a night per grade. This means that Gr. 3's should get 30 minutes of
homework a night. This homework includes practising spelling, math skills,
reading or finishing work not completed in class.
Spelling tests:
At the end of every month, the students will be given a spelling test of 14
words we have learned over the month. These 14 words are core, grade
appropriate, spelling words that teach students spelling patterns that will
help them spell other words. In other words, students are not only learning
14 words that go on our classroom word wall, but also other words with
similar spelling patterns. For instance, we learn the words pretty,
prettier, prettiest, to which we can apply to other words such as: sweet,
sweeter, sweetest.-
