How many students attend St. Joseph's School ?
St. Joseph's School presently has 178 students. Our numbers
fluctuate
somewhat during the year, as our community members sometime
change residency
as a result of a change in parental employment.
What is St. Joseph's academic goal?
St. Joseph's staff and students have chosen two goals: the first
is to enhance our Caring Catholic Community and the second is to
obtain level 3 or 4 achievement in student reading responses. We
are focusing improving our Learning Skills on the Ministry Report
card and on summary,retell and main idea in our primary, junior
and intermediate grades.
How is 'Education for All" visable at St. Joseph's School ?
Education for all is very visible at St. Joseph's School. Our
staff truly
believe ALL of our students can achieve high standings given
support and
time. Our students recognize the need for inclusivity with their
peers and
no student is every without a peer to give support.
What is the school's goal for school improvement?
At St. Joseph's School we want to be Caring Catholic Community
member in our school,community and world. To this end we are
working towards everyone "being on the boat" through our A.R.K.
activities. ( A Random Kindness)
How is the school a "global citizen"?
Our school continues to be involved in many outreach projects
which assist comunity members and people in far off countries as
well as within our own community. We support our local food
banks, Christmas bureau and Senior centres, as well as a
developing social justice conscience.Daily we are reminded of our
responsbility to be caring difference makers in our school and
world.
How are parents involved in your school?
We are blessed with a fabulously active parent advisory council,
volunteer committee, healthy & safe school representatives and
community coaches. Parents who work outside of the home, support
our school through the completion of projects at home which are
then delivered to the school.
How is the faith community involved at St. Joseph's School ?
Our parish priests celebrate the eucharist on a monthly basis,
with each classroom hosting a mass during the year. Our Rosary
Apostalate ladies bring information and practice of the rosary to
our students each month. During the year we join other schools in
celebrations of our faith and seasonal activities.Our students
and staff provide funds and moral support to a variety of social
programs.
