How can I be successful in English courses?

This is a great question because it shows you are being proactive
about YOUR learning! English is a fundamental subject because,
above all, it is cultivating your COMMUNICATION skills, which is
necessary in all aspects of life.

To be successful, try to accomplish the following:
1. Review your notes from class daily.
2. Complete your course text reading in advance.
3. Use class time to ask lots of questions and complete work.
4. Homework should be routine: try to complete work at the same
time in the same place with little distraction.
5. Revise, revise, revise your written assignments: this is key
to learning that writing is a PROCESS.
6. Ask for extra help.
7. Reread scenes from the Shakespearean play we are studying
each day. This helps in your knowledge of the play since it is
complex. Use an English translation of the play if necessary.
8. Use an agenda, calendar, binder with dividers... BE
ORGANIZED!
9. Always use textual examples from the short story, poem,
novel, play, article, etc. when making notes and answering
questions. This will ensure textual specificity.
10. Join an extra-curricular club or sport. Make your time at
school that much more enjoyable by becoming a part of something
that interests you and meeting other students who share these
interests with you!!! Be happy and well!
