Dear Parents,
Fall is upon us and the cooler weather means that school is in full swing!
Please consult the calendar for specific dates on upcoming events. The
following is a summary of units we are working on this month:
Language
We are working on genres of literature, in particular, the characteristics
of a narrative. Students have put together folders where they can identify
these traits, particulary in our read aloud "Book of the Month" novels.
Math
Students are finishing up a Numeration Unit of Exponents, Standard Form and
Algebra.
Religion
Science:
Students are working on identifying properties of fluids and their everyday
uses.
I have attached a list of Long Range curriculum units for your records. As
always, the agenda and my e-mail are both excellent ways of contacting me if
necessary.
The character trait of the month is respect. We have been having some
conversation about what respect looks like.
Our school now has emergency procedures in place for threatening situations
and students and staff have been practising these procedures with success.
We discourage students from bringing any aerosol deodorant cans to school,
as spraying them in an unventilated area often can cause headaches and
allergic reactions to the people nearby.
