All About Me!
Hello, my name is Miss Crocker, and I teach First Grade at Swansea Junior
and Senior Public School. I have been an elementary school teacher for eight
years now, with the past four years here at Swansea. Prior to Swansea, I
taught at a few other schools within the Toronto District School Board;
namely, Earl Beatty P.S. and McKee P.S.,and with a few other school boards;
namely, the York Region District School Board and the Guilford County School
District in North Carolina, U.S.A. Prior to teaching First Grade this
current school year, I taught Kindergarten and Third Grade.
I earned my teaching certificate in April 2000 from the Faculty of Education
at the University of Western Ontario in London, ON.
Originally, I was born and raised in Thunder Bay, ON by the best parents in
the world (okay, this may be a bit biased but hey, this is my biography so I
can write whatever I wish). I have two siblings, an identical twin sister
and a younger brother. My sister is also an elementary school teacher (you
won't believe this, AT THE SAME SCHOOL!),and my brother is a firefighter in
Thunder Bay. My parents have been married, for what seems like forever, and
are retirees, both of whom have earned every one of their grey hairs
(sorry Mom and Dad). My father was a Physical Education high school teacher
and coach, and my mother was a provincial government employee and a proud
stay-at-home mom during her children's elementary school years.
I enjoy reading, eating fruits and veggies, drinking green tea, running,
walking, spinning, doing yoga, and SHOPPING!
My favourite actresses are Sarah Jessica Parker, Meg Ryan, and Kelly Ripa
and my favourite actors are Michael Vartan, George Clooney, and
Patrick'McDreamy'Dempsey.
My favourite colours are black and white, with a "smidge" of chocolate brown
and gray.
My favourite television shows are: one that I cannot mention; however, it's
star is my favourite actress (SATC), Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters,
24, Desperate Housewives, and any reality show, especially, The Apprentice.
My favourite movies are: The Hours, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Crash.
My favourite musicians are Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Chantal Kreviaczuk,
Michael Buble,Bon Jovi, and John Mayer.
My favourite season is Fall (great shopping for clothes!).
My favourite fruits are berries and Fuji apples and my favourite vegetable
is broccoli.
My pet peeves include: driving, rudeness/impolite people, my mother's
singing, and having to straighten my hair everyday!
The item that I can't live without: my ceramic flat iron!
My worst habits(can you believe I have some!) are: grinding my teeth and
being tardy-SORRY!
Okay, no more secrets about me! I have told you enough.
Mission For My "Shining Stars":
It is truly an honour for me to be such a monumental and influential figure
in my students' lives. As an educator, my conduct and decision-making will
be professional and always with my students' best interests at the
forefront. My mission is quite simple: 'provide a safe, nurturing,
positive, open, caring, respectful, and stimulating learning environment; an
environment which fosters academic growth, divergent thinking,
safety,responsibility, and respect for all.
