CAP Contest - Canadian Association of Physicists

This grade 12 challenge will allow students who finish in the top 5 
nationwide to be selected to represent Canada in the International Physics 
Olympiad.  This years Olympiad will be in sunny and beautiful Merida, 
Yucatan, Mexico.

Opportunities for Writers

Uth Ink is a partnership between Playwrights Guild of Canada and 
[murmur]. "Community” themed plays created by youth will be recorded, posted 
on the web, and developed into site-specific theatre installations in

Youth Action Forum is a national magazine published by and for youth. Forum's 
mandate is to be a place for young people to share their thoughts, opinions 
and experiences with other youth across Canada. Each issue is geared towards 
motivating and encouraging youth to educate themselves and be proactive in

deal.org is a national web site for youth that welcomes articles, poetry, 
artwork, fiction, editorials, photography, comic strips, music, video clips 
and anything else you can come up with! Their bilingual e-zine is written by

The Poem Repair Shop is also a weekly radio show that airs on Guelph, 
Ontario's Community Radio, CFRU (available via web stream). The show is 
produced, in large part, by students. We welcome volunteers who wish to gain 
radio experience, young writers who wish to give voice to their writing, on

The Ishar Singh Poetry Contest for Youth, hosted by the Eden Mills Writers 
Festival in Eden Mills, Ontario, offers a number of categories and prizes.

What If? is a literary fiction magazine for ages 12 and up that publishes 
poetry, fiction, book reviews, and editorial pieces for the teen/young adult 
market. The magazine also hosts regular poetry contests and has the goal of

The Charter Challenge

The Charter Challenge is an online simulation for High School students 
created to help students gain a better understanding of the Canadian Charter 
of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter Challenge involves students in a 
collaborative, decision-making situation based on a real-world scenario.

Great Canadian Geography Challenge

As Ontario's only provincial appellate-level mock hearing, the Charter 
Challenge has students prepare arguments of Charter issues raised on appeal. 
While researching their arguments, students have the opportunity to connect 
online with other students around the province, as well as with lawyer 
mentors. Their factums are reviewed and finalist teams have the opportunity 
to argue the issue before a Court of Appeal judge, either in person or 
through video-conferencing.

U of T Chemistry and Physics Olympiad Preparation Programs

Each year, Canada sends a team of chemistry and physics students to the 
International Chemistry and Physics Olympiad competitions. Registration forms

U of T Aristotle Philosophy Contest
 
The Department of Philosophy hosts one essay competition open to all students 
enrolled in a Canadian high school. The Aristotle Philosophy Contest requires 
participants to write a 1,200 word essay that develops and defends a position 
taken in response to one of five questions. Essays will be judged on quality, 
depth, originality of thought, organization of ideas and clarity of 
expression.

U of T French Contest
 
The French Department will host the U of T French Contest on Wednesday, April 
16, 2008 for students in grade 12.  Contestants will be tested in three 
categories Core French, Core French Plus and Extended/Immersion. The winner 
from each category will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship to the Faculty of 
Arts and Science.

Get Outside Your World!, Engineers Without Borders

Building on Engineers Without Borders' award-winning School Outreach program, 
EWB, Honda Canada Foundation and Mountain Equipment Co-op are proud to 
announce Get Outside Your World, a national contest for youth. Get Outside 
Your World challenges students to do just that - tell us their vision for a 
better world. 

They want to know what students, grade 6-12 (including CEGEP), envision for a 
better world and how we can get there. Submissions can take the form of photo 
essays, videos and essays. Prizes for winning submissions include a visit 
from an EWB overseas volunteer, a $1,500 scholarship for post-secondary 
education, and more. The contest closes on April 30th, 2009

The Dominion Institute: Essay Contest

The Dominion Institute is challenging young Canadians across the country to 
express their views on some important issues facing Canadians today. Using 
the book Great Questions of Canada, students are asked to write an essay on 
one of the six Great Questions debate topics. The winning entry will receive 
a $2000 cash prize, have their essay published on the website and win a trip 
to Ottawa for the award ceremonies in November 2009. Additional prizes will 
also be awarded for classrooms who participate!

Marion Drysdale Awards

Just like scientists working in industry, universities and research 
institutions, students are required to submit a project outline describing 
their proposed research to a scientific evaluation committee. Students whose 
projects are approved may receive up to $200 in funding to help pay for 
equipment, supplies and other costs. For approved projects, the proposal 
evaluation committee will attempt to suggest the name(s) of potential 
mentors 
from the local biotechnology community who may be able to provide students 
with access to research materials, expert advice and some of the supplies 
and
