Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! This year we will be studying Geography
and World History. We will study the people and civilizations from the Roman
Empire to the era of European Exploration and Colonization. We will primarily
focus upon the following social studies power standards:
*Understanding fundamental geography vocabulary.
*Use maps, charts, and graphs to understand patterns of movement over time
and space.
*Recognize relationships between the physical and cultural
characteristics of a place or region.
*Identify and give examples of the political, economic, and social
characteristics of the Roman Republic and Empire, and how they are reflected
in the law, government, economy and society of the United States.
*Understand the major developments and societal impact of feudalism, the
church, and the rise of cities in the European Middle Ages.
*Understand the characteristics and impact of Renaissance thinking, art, and
learning.
The 2009-2010 school year is going to be fabulous!
