Below is the Kennedy Middle School Work Expectation. This is published in the information for students packet that every student receives the beginning of the year and is thoroughly reviewed in each of their classes. Work Expectation: * All school papers must be headed with the students name, date and class in the upper right hand corner. * Work must be handed in on time. Late work will usually not be accepted unless arrangements are made with the teacher. * Students are responsible for contacting teachers for missed homework whenever they are absent from class for any reason. Research shows that students who complete their math homework in a timely manner, trying all the problems, reading the instructions, and showing their work have a greater level of understanding and success in mathematics. It is imperative that students complete their homework so as to give themselves every advantage in the classroom and on state tests. The material we cover in 7th & 8th grade is critical for their mathematical success in high school. You will usually receive math assignments (homework) Monday through Thursday nights. Generally, there is no homework on testing days or Fridays. You will need to take your book home every night or access the math book online. Read the short lesson before you start the homework. Homework is to be completed before returning for the next class period. We will usually correct and review the homework in class the next day. ALL PROBLEMS NEED TO BE ATTEMPTED !! YOU MUST SHOW YOUR WORK !! Work must be handed in on time. Late work will not usually be accepted. You are responsible for contacting me for missed work whenever you are absent from class for any reason. Homework sent home for completion under the above criteria, may be turned in up to three school days late if the student misses class because of illness OR preplanned absence OR has a PERMIT TO EXTEND DEADLINE. Permits are issued to each student each semester, for throughout that semester, or for bonus credit at the end of the semester. Any work turned in after 3 days will recieve no more than 50% credit. Any work turned in after the concept test will recieve no more than 10% credit. Any work turned in over two weeks late will recieve no more than 1% credit. Homework is to be completed in a spiral notebook, in pencil, and corrected in blue or black ink. Homework counts as 30% of your grade. All papers must be headed with your name, date, and lesson number in the upper right hand corner.
