4th/5th Grade Policies
I. Student Commitment & Behavior Expectations
A. Complete ALL assignments on time
1. An assignment loses 10% each day it is late & will
receive a zero score if it is more than a week late.
B. Complete all tests and quizzes
1. Prepare for them!!!
C. Read all assigned readings & be prepared for discussion in class.
D. Come to class ready to learn.
1. Have all necessary materials for the days lessons.
E. Participate by raising your hand to answer questions & ask
questions when you dont understand something.
F. Have respect for yourself and those around you.
II. Tests and quizzes may be taken a second time to improve a grade.
A. For example - 1st try = 70% 2nd try = 90% Final Grade = 80%
B. Students have exactly 1-week to retake tests/quizzes from the
initial date it is given and need to have spent time studying the material
they did not previously understand.
III. Homework assignments may be turned in with corrections to improve a
grade.
A. This does not apply to long-term research projects.
B. Students have exactly 1-week to turn in corrections from the day
it was assigned.
IV. Classroom conduct, attitude, attendance, participation and performance
will determine your final grade.
V. It is the students responsibility to see the teacher following an
absence.
A. Students are given one day extra for each missed day to turn in
work.
B. It is strongly suggested that the parent of the student pick-up
homework on the day of an absence.
VI. Students must report to the office if they have arrived to school after
class has begun.
A. If a student is tardy they must stand just inside the doorway of the
classroom and wait for acknowledgement. This helps to not interrupt the
activity or lesson that is taking place.
VII. Homework Policy
A.5th grade should expect to do between 30-50 minutes of homework each
night. For certain
assignments time management should be used so students do not have two days
of work to complete
in one night.
B.Small amounts of homework will be assigned over the weekend.
C.Students that come to school with incomplete assignments will need to
complete them in work room in Mrs. Rudzek's class during their lunch recess.
D.Students that work productively may be able to complete homework
assignments during class time.

IX. Grading Scale
4 = 92%-100%
3 = 82%-91%
2 = 72%-81%
1 = 71% & below
