Endangered Species Reports

Endangered Species Report:

1) Choose an animal that is threatened or endangered.

2) Procedure: Conduct research about your animal of choice.  You can do your 
research on the Internet, in magazines, in encyclopedias, in books or by 
talking to someone who knows about your animal.  Include a-h in your report.

a)	Animal Description: Identify whether the animal is a mammal, 
reptile, bird or fish and why?  What does it eat?  Is it an omnivore, a 
carnivore or herbivore?  What does it look like?  Does it have fur, feather, 
scales, rough skin, etc...?  What color is it?

b)	Animal Habitat:  Describe where it lives, which country and what 
kind of plants grow in the area.  

c)	Problems the Animal is Facing:  Why is threatened or endangered?

d)	Solutions to the Problems:  What is being done to save the species?  
What do you think would be a great solution?

e)	Interesting Facts: Tell us something interesting about your animal.

f)	Photographs and Pictures:  Include one photograph (or more) and one 
hand-drawn and colored/painted picture of the animal done by you.  

g)	Map: Include a map of the country where the animal can be found.  
Please title the map.  

h)	References:  Make a list of websites, books, magazines, 
encyclopedias used.  Please include page numbers when citing books or 
magazines.

3)	All of the information needs to be typed or very neatly 
handwritten.  

4)	Please paste all of the information onto a poster board for display.

5)	Don’t forget a title.  

What am I grading on?

1)	Neatness and Organization on the Poster Board, which includes 
spelling, capitals, periods and the use of complete sentences.
2)	Content: Is your report complete with ‘a-h’ included?
3)	Oral report of your animal:
Voice- Is your voice strong?
	Content- How well do you know your information?
	Posture- Do you stand up straight and not fidget?
	Response to Questions- Do you respond appropriately to questions 
from the audience?
	Eye Contact- Do you make eye contact with the audience?

Reports are due on Dec.17, 2008.
