Class Rules and Behavior Plan

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”-The Golden Rule

Dear Families:

I am delighted that your child is in my class this year.

I have developed a classroom plan, which affords every student guidance in
making good decisions about his or her behavior and thus an opportunity to
learn in a positive, nurturing classroom environment. Your child deserves
the most positive educational climate possible for his or her growth, and I
know that together we will make a difference in this process. The plan
below outlines our classroom rules, positive rewards and consequences for
appropriate and inappropriate behavior.

Class Rules:

1) The Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto
you,” and respect others and yourself at all times.
2) Listen carefully
3) Follow Directions
4) Work quietly and do not disturb others who are working
5) Be kind with your words and actions
6) Respect school and personal property
7) Work and play safely

To encourage students to follow rules, I recognize appropriate behavior with praise, and
positive notes.

However, if a student chooses to break a rule the following steps will be taken:

First Time: Warning
Second Time: 5 minutes working away from the group.
Third Time: Student will write and a sign a ‘Behavior Journal’, which is an account of his
or her misbehavior and a copy of this will be sent home to the family on the day
of the incident.
Fourth Time: Student will be sent to conference with the Head of School and the teacher will
call the family.
Fifth Time: Parents will be asked to come in for a behavior conference.

Please ask your child to review this plan with you. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have
any questions about this plan or any other matter.

Sincerely,

Erin Duke
