                                   Week 6 Quarter 2


This week we will be continuing on with the Constitution.  In social studies 
students will continue to work with the “We the People” text.  Students will 
also be watching a video on the forming of the constitution called “A More 
Perfect Union”.  In language arts this week, students have a book report 
project due on Friday the 18th.  Students will be working on the Précis that 
accompanies the book report project throughout the week in class.  Two days 
of computer time have been dedicated to the book report project.  Please 
remember that the presentation needs to be e-mailed to me no later than the 
morning of the 18th.  Further clarification:

•Next week we will not be starting new words in language arts due to the 
winter break.  We will begin new vocabulary when we get back from break on 
the 4th. 

•Expect an eight page packet to be sent home on Wednesday the 16th.  This 
packet needs to be completed during break and will be due the Wednesday we 
return from break (January 6th).  Each page is worth ten points and is 
intended to be review.  If you do not understand the packet try your best and 
I will help you after we return from break.

•If you have borrowed one of my books or a school books and are no longer 
reading/using it please bring it back.  My personal classroom library has 
been depleted.  A prize may be given ;0)


•Updated grades have been posted on PASS as well as my classroom wall.

                                Week 5 Quarter 2

This week we will continue looking at the Constitution and the role of 
Government in America.  Do not forget that there will be a spelling test on 
Friday.  Just a reminder, book report projects will take place next Friday 
the 18th.  We will have two days in the computer lab next week to work on 
them.  Make sure you are prepared to present by e-mailing me your 
presentation as soon as it is complete.  *Homework is subject to change this 
week based on how far we get in our discussions.  I will try to update and

                                     Week 6

shop on Native American story telling.  I think it will be a great experience

                                 Week 5

I want to begin by thanking all of you for your amazing flexibility and 
patience this last week.  I know testing made everything a bit a chaotic, but 
you guys were awesome.  Due to testing we are a bit behind.  I have complete 
confidence that we will be able to catch up this week.  Be prepared for a bit 
of reading assigned to you and homework might take you closer to 30 minutes a 
night due to reading speeds.  As always I will give time in class for silent 
reading and I advise you take advantage of that time for your classroom

Can you believe it has almost been a month?  You guys are great!  Thank you 
for all of your patience last week with the technology.  I am really looking 
forward to this week and getting into some real curriculum!  In language arts 
we will begin studying American Literature with works by Nathaniel 
Hawthorne.  In social studies we will be looking at world geography.  This 
week we will start MAPS testing.  Make sure to bring your SSR book as well as 
things to work on since testing will interfere with our class schedule.  I

                             Week 1

Welcome back to school!  I am excited to be here with everyone this year.  
The first three weeks of school will be focused on me getting to know each 
and every one of you.  Both middle and high school levels will be working on 
similar activities but will be more in depth with the upper grades.  In 
Language Arts we will be working on a "ME BOOK" and reviewing writing 
skills.  You will also be working on a book report of your choice which will 
be presented to the class during week four.  In Social Studies we will be 
spending some time learning about geography.  The first week will focus on 
Oregon geography.  Second week will look at the United States and then week 
three and four will focus on World Geography (United States, Canada, and 
Oceania).  I will hand out a tentative Calendar during week three that will 
include class readings, due dates, and major project guidelines.  Know that I 
am ALWAYS available before school, after school, or by appointment and that I 
encourage you to ask questions and get clarification whenever needed.  See 
you soon!
