TVJA Eagle Feather's are given out to students when they are observed by staff using characteristics of the Fruits of the Spirit and/or LifeLong Guidelines during school. Some of the qualaties looked for are: caring, courage, pride, integrity, perseverance, organization, responsibility, cooperation, curiosity, flexibility, common sense, patience, friendship, initiative, effort, problem- solving, resourcefulness, forgiveness, self-control, flexibility, truthfulness, initiative, and sense of humor. When a student receives an Eagle Feather, they take the white copy to the office where it is placed in a box. This box is then taken to special all school assemblies where Mr.Chamberlian and Mr.Cone pick at least ten or fifteen white copies at random. The students called receive a small prize and praise for Going Above and Beyond in their positive actions and attitude. The yellow copy of the Eagle Feather should come home for families to see. Not all students will receive a prize at the school assemblies (part of learning to be flexible and accepting some disappointment). However, if your child brings an Eagle Feather home you may want to find ways to praise them for their positive efforts. The students REALLY look forward to these Eagle Feather Assemblies!
