I enjoy teaching in the library and computer lab, rock climbing,
mountaineering, skiing (cross-country and tele), backpacking, biking,
astronomy, nature studies and goofing off. I have taught single grades 4,5
and 6, multi age classrooms 3/4, 4/6 and 4/5, K-6 science, K-6 TAG and K-6
Media Specialist, and finally, was a vice principal and interim principal.
I took a summer trip to Vancouver Island, BC where my wife and I explored
"Super Natural British Columbia". I learned about this area when I was 8 or
9 years old reading National Geographic at my grandmother's house. Had I
never read this magazine, would I have been aware of this place of
natural beauty? You just don't know.
I have a wife and two children: JoAnn, Justin and Brett.
We have 5 grand children: Z, Keenan, Medea, Morgan and Faolan.
We have two beautiful Siberian Huskies, Neeka, our
eight year old red and white husky and Teneya,a two year old husky pup.
My favorite subjects: math and science. I also devour reading material!
I live in the mountains above Ashland in an area called the Green Springs in
a log home that I built.
My mission: To ensure that students are effective users of ideas
and information to become independent and lifelong learners.
My goals:
* Help students develop a lifelong love of reading and learning.
* Guide students in learning vital information and retrieval skills
using print and non-print material.
* Provide a solid foundation in the basic skills in reading, math,
creative writing, science and social studies as well as an
understanding of technology and its variety of uses in the pursuit of
learning.
