What are the M/T Red Bears (2 yr. old Toddlers) doing this month?

Time really does fly when you’re having fun! It is truly a
pleasure working with each and every one of your children. All
of the children are becoming very comfortable here at nursery
school even though it doesn’t always seem that way at drop off
and pick up times. We are becoming one great big happy family!

During the month of November, we were very busy reading
about Thanksgiving, singing Thanksgiving songs and working on
Thanksgiving crafts. We also spent a lot of time discussing the
people and things that we are thankful for. We are continuing to
work on learning our shapes, colors, numbers and letters through
countless different learning activities. We are also working very
hard on staying on the carpet during circle time and staying in
our seats during snack time. This has been quite a challenge for
some of the children but we are getting better and better each
day.

During the month of December, we will be very busy
getting ready for the holidays! We will be exploring our five
senses through the many things that we see, hear, touch, smell
and taste at Christmas time. We will also be discussing the
colors and shapes that we see throughout the holiday season! We
want to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy
New Year!

A new snack sheet for December has been posted on the
bulletin board as well as a sign up sheet for our holiday
celebration and a new door monitor sign-up sheet. Thanks again
to everyone who brought in snack and goodies for our Thanksgiving
feast. We greatly appreciate all that you do!

Please don’t hesitate to come to us with any questions or
concerns.

What are the Rainbow Fish (3 yr. olds) doing this month?

December will be especially fun for all of us. There will be two
letters of the week; T, and G. We will talk about trees, trains,
gifts, gingerbread, gold and green, along with many of the other
fun things that go along with this holiday season. It will be a
very busy month, and everyone will be excited. Don’t ask too many
questions about our projects; some things are meant to be a
secret this time of the year!

Our Christmas party sign up sheet is in the hallway. The party
will be on December 18, which is our last day of school until
January 7th! We will have a short program of songs for you at
9am that day. You are invited to stay at school to hear the
children sing. We will be done no later than 9:30am. It is
possible that Santa will deliver something after you leave!
Shhhhh!!!!

On December 3 we will have a special Polar Program during which
we will learn all about the animals that live in the Artic and
Antarctica. It is a lively presentation with hands on fun that
the children are sure to enjoy while they are learning something
new! Music will be on December 4. We will not have a Show and
Tell this month; there are too many other fun things to do!

Conferences between teacher and parent will be on January 15.
Please do not bring siblings to the conference. The children will
have school that day; a substitute will be in the classroom with
Mrs. Plunkett. I will post a sign up sheet soon so that you can
plan ahead. If that day doesn’t work for you, please let me know
and we will arrange another time to meet.

Mrs. Pickell will be at school in my place on December 17 and
18. My daughter is graduating from the University of Miami on
December 17. Thank you for understanding.

Mrs. Plunkett and I are working with your children on classroom
rules. We would like your help in reinforcing sharing, taking
turns, walking in the classroom, and keeping our hands to
ourselves/ giving others their personal space. It is a team
effort!

Enjoy the holiday season with your family. The children grow up
very quickly; this is a special time for all of you to make
wonderful memories. Please let us know about questions and
concerns.

Sincerely,
Aleta Bossert and Sue Plunkett

What are the Busy Bees (older 3's & 4yr. olds) doing this month?

December will be especially fun for all of us. There will be two
letters of the week; T, and G. We will talk about trees, trains,
gifts, gingerbread, gold and green, along with many of the other
fun things that go along with this holiday season. It will be
having a busy, fun and exciting month for allof us! Don’t ask
too many questions about our projects; some things are meant to
be a surprise this time of the year!

The Christmas party sign up sheet in the hallway has many names
on it already! Our party will be on December 16, which is our
last day of school until January 4th! We will have a short
program of songs for you at 9am that day. You are invited to stay
at school to hear the children sing. We will be done no later
than 9:30am. After you leave, there is no telling what fun and
exciting events may occur!

We will have a Polar Program on December 2, during which we will
learn all about the
animals that live in the Artic and Antarctica. It is a lively
presentation with hands on
fun that the children are sure to enjoy while they are learning
something new. Music
will be on December 8, and there are 3 birthdays to celebrate
before Christmas! As
our days will be full, I am not going to schedule Show and Tell
again until January.

Remember that Lunch Bunch is available to your children. It may
come in handy during this busy time of year. If you would like
to sign up, just stop in the office. Please sign up early to be
sure of a spot!

Conferences between teacher and parent will be on January 13.
There will not be school for the children that day, and we do not
provide babysitting! Please sign up for a conference time with
us. If that is not convenient, I will schedule another time for
you before or after school.

We will fit as many fun crafts, songs, and activities in with
your children as we possibly can during the time we have with
them between now and Christmas! They enjoy staying active, and
are proud of the work they do. So are we. The Busy Bees are
becoming good friends!

We wish all of you a very happy holiday season. Please share your
questions or concerns with us.

Sincerely,
            Aleta Bossert and Sue Plunkett

What are the Dinosaurs (older 4's doing this month?

During the month of December, we have a lot planned for our class
in a very small amount of time. We’ll try to keep things low-key
as this can be a very hectic and stressful time for children.
We’ll focus more on giving, the importance of family and friends
and feeling good about the season. We’ll also try to curb some
bad habits by introducing our Elf on a Shelf. We won’t know his
name until the children pick one, but ask questions about him –
or her - throughout the month. The elf sits in our classroom
every day and then goes to the North Pole at night to give Santa
a report. It’s a lot of fun for all of us!

A few years ago, we began a tradition where the children take
time to describe the ways that their families celebrate the
holidays. This is a great way for the children to speak in front
of a group and it is their special time. Our school family is
becoming more diverse and so it is important to include all types
of family traditions. Each child is assigned a special day. On
that day, they can bring in something that will illustrate any
facet of your family’s holiday celebration. We’ve seen cookie
cutters, advent calendars, menorahs, ornaments – anything that
makes your celebration special. Please include a short
explanation so that we may assist if needed. The dates are as
follows –
Monday, December 7 George & Bobby
Tuesday, December 8 Hudson & Brandon
Wednesday, December 9 Tyler & Josh
Monday, December 14 Joey & Ethan
Tuesday, December 15 Anna, Will & Lily

Remember to check out the school display in the church library –
every year, many parents miss this and it really is great. This
year it is based on the book, A Very Marley Christmas.

Please plan to join us on Wednesday, December 17 at 9:00 for
songs – we’ll try to do our best! Parking is free in Ambler
after December 1st so no need for a quarter this time.

Our only visitor will be Mr. Pete which is always special. Our
Polar program has been postponed due to illness which is most
unfortunate as this is a great program.

There will be two big sign-ups this month – for the party and for
our special art project during the last week. Please keep an eye
on the bulletin board.

Have a peaceful and joyous holiday and enjoy your vacation!
We’ll see you again on Monday, January 4th. And if you feel
you’re getting stressed, take a moment and try to see the
holidays through your child’s eyes – it’s pretty amazing!

				Mrs. Pickell and Miss B.

What are the Pre-K Terrific Turtles doing this month?

December is such a special time for preschoolers and the Terrific
Turtles are no exception. We are busy decorating our classroom
for Christmas, working on special projects and rehearsing for our
Christmas Program. We are so excited that this wonderful time of
year is here! We will be spending the month of December talking
about the gift of “sharing” our time and talents. We will
discuss the birth of Christ as well as Santa, Frosty and
Rudolph.

SOME DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS ARE:
CHRISTMAS PARTY: We will have an “Ice Cream” party for our
Christmas snack. The sign up sheet is on the Snack Board. Thank
you in advance for your contributions to our Christmas party. A
GREAT BIG THANK YOU to those of you who very generously and
faithfully send in the truly yummy snacks each month. The
January Snack Chart will go up before we leave for Christmas
vacation.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: We have begun practicing for our Christmas
program . We think you will be very impressed and surprised at
what we can do - with just a few weeks practice. Your “formal”
invitation will come home soon. (psst - save Friday, Dec. 18th -
9:00 - 9:30 a.m.) There will be time for pictures after the
program. The children are asked to come dressed in red and green
that day.

LETTER OF THE WEEK: We will be working on “Cc” this month as
well as reviewing A, F, O, S, H, I, V, and T, which we have done
so far.

“Cc” Homework day is Tuesday, December 8th.

REMINDER:
CLOTHING: The weather will soon be getting colder. If you have
not already done so, we ask you to send in a pair of long pants
and a long sleeve shirt that we can place in their extra clothing
bag. Please make sure that all clothing is clearly marked with
your child’s name.

OUTSIDE PLAY: We go outside to play everyday, weather
permitting. Remember to dress your child to play outdoors for a
30 minute period. Only rain or ice will keep us in!

Polar Program
Susan Dunswell will return to AWNS on Dec. 3rd to help us
explore the Polar region. We will learn all about polar animals
and the aurora borealis. We will see slides of actual animals,
learn new songs and explore thru interactive play. It is always
a fascinating and fun time.

JANUARY CONFERENCES: The conferences for this class are
scheduled for Wednesday, Jan., 13th. I will put a schedule up
the week of December 14th so you can fill in the time that is
best for you. The conferences are set up in 15 minute
intervals. I will begin at 8:30 a.m. for those of you who have
to get to work. THERE IS NO SCHOOL FOR THE CHILDREN THAT DAY.
There WILL NOT be baby-sitting provided by the Nursery School.
PLEASE USE THIS EARLY NOTICE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE
SOMEONE – a friend, neighbor, grandparent - WATCH YOUR CHILD
DURING YOUR CONFERENCE TIME. More details can be found in the
school December Newsletter. If your job prohibits you from
making your child’s conference, we can do a phone conference.
Just let me know by December 11th that this is what you choose to
do.

Our best wishes go to you and your family for a wonderful
Christmas and a happy, healthy 2010. We feel truly blessed to be
able to work with your children every week. We enjoy them so
much!

Merry Christmas!
