STUDENT LIBRARY POLICY 2008

The library is open during the regular school day. Students may come to the library during homeroom, study periods, and after eating lunch. Nothing other than paper and pen may be carried beyond the sign-in desk. All students entering the library must sign in, unless they are part of an entire class. Study Periods. Any student rostered for study hall (academic Prep) should report directly to the library and sign the list upon entering. No student may ever sign for another student. They are to be here when the bell rings and must remain until the end of the period. Lunch Periods. Students who wish to use the library after finishing their lunch should obtain a pass from the cafeteria moderator. Students are to bring their books with them and remain in the library for the rest of the lunch period. They may not go back and forth from the cafeteria. During homeroom. Students may come directly to the library and I will inform attendance they are here, or they may come with a pass from the homeroom teacher. Class Periods. Students are admitted to the library from class provided the teacher sent them. The pass must indicate the time and work to be done. If the regular teacher is absent, the substitute may not send students to the library. Entire Class. Please feel free to reserve time with the librarian to bring your classes to the library. At least 48 hours notice is greatly appreciated. There are 24 computers in the library. Please keep in mind that during the AP exams in May, no student or teacher is permitted to enter the library. Materials. Books in the regular collection circulate for two weeks. They may be renewed as many times as necessary. Overdue books are charged a fine of 10˘ per day. Magazines and reference books do not circulate. Books not returned on time Card Catalog. We now have an electronic card catalog. It is available on the desktop of every computer in the school. It is under “My favorites.” You can click on it to see what is available in our library. Reading Olympics. Archbishop Wood High School participated in the Bucks County Reading Olympics for the first time in 2007. We are proud of our students and their outstanding accomplishment of a blue and red ribbon. We are equally proud of our 2008 team. We look forward to participating in the 2009 competition and encourage students to begin reading now. A copy of the list for 2009 appears under the Summer Reading link.
