Homecoming Information:

Homecoming will take place TODAY, Saturday, October 11th.  Many school groups will be selling 
apparel, food, and will have activities for all ages.  These booths will open up at 10:00AM.  

The homecoming parade will begin at 11:45AM, followed by the homecoming court introductions and 
the pre-game show by the band.   The football game against Downingtown West will begin at 
1:00PM.  The homecoming dance will follow later that night.  Doors will open at 6:30PM and the 
dance will conclude at 10:00PM.  Hope to see you all there!

AGHS Seeking Reaccreditation through AFG;

Parents & Community Members Needed to Serve on Accreditation for Growth Planning Team
Avon Grove High School (AGHS) is currently in the process of seeking reaccreditation from the 
Commission on Secondary Schools of the Middle States Association. The high school began the 
reaccreditation process in December 2007, and school officials are currently seeking parents and 
community members to serve on a planning team which will lead the process. Any parents or 
community members interested in being considered to serve on Avon Grove High School’s 
Accreditation For Growth Planning Team are asked to contact Assistant Principal Gary Benasutti

Information from the Guidance Office:

You are invited to hear two well regarded speakers in the Chester County area, Michael Blanche 
and Ari Tuckman, come together to talk to you about communication with teens. Most parents of 
teenagers would like to know more about what is going on in their kids’ lives.  We will discuss 
what you can do to encourage your teens to open up more and how to keep those discussions calm 
and productive. 
	Michael Blanche is a licensed clinical social worker that has over eleven years 
experience providing direct clinical counseling for those who are dually diagnosed with 
addiction and other psychological disorders.  Mike has worked in all levels of care in the 
treatment of addiction.  
	Ari Tuckman is a clinical psychologist in private practice in West Chester, PA.  He 
works with older children, teens, and adults, using an active approach focused primarily on 
solving problems in the present.  His areas of specialization are ADHD, depression, anxiety, 
addictions, relationships stressors, and lifestyle matters.

Presentation on the“New” Chapter 14 Regulations

Andrew E. Faust.  is a partner in the education law firm of Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams.  He 
has represented public school entities throughout Pennsylvania in special education and civil 
rights litigation since 1986, appearing at every level of the state and federal judiciary and in 
hundreds of administrative due process proceedings. He has spoken widely on special education, 
student services, and civil rights to audiences of educators, attorneys, college students, and 
parents and has appeared as an expert witness on special education.  Andy is also the parent of 
a child with a disability who receives special education in the public schools.
