Science: It's time to start another school year! This year we will be
studying a variety of science topics.
We will start off with the Motion and Design unit where the students will
learn about force and what
causes motion. I look forward to engaging the students with their
exploration using K*Nex to build
vehicles.
Language Arts: We are off and reading! Our first book report project was
discussed on September 3rd. We reviewed the rubric and the project
details. The students are in the process of having all of their book
choices approved. Please look in our Language Arts binder
under "independent reading" to see the due dates for the first trimester.
Presently we are reviewing the story elements and looking at how these
elements help us to understand a story. Please encourage us by asking us to
identify the setting (time and place) of our favorite television shows. As
the first trimester continues we will delve into the textbook. This text
will help to strengthen our understanding of certain skills and strategies.
Every month we will share with our parents the ARROW parent newsletter.
Please use this tool as a way to discuss how important and interesting
reading can be! During the school year you can be aware of your child's
progress by checking their performance in the section marked "graded
papers." This section can be found in our Language Arts binder. At the end
of each trimester this section will be sent home in a sign and return
packet. We look forward to becoming better readers this year!
