Creative Writing Assignments

1st Grade-begin to create a new fairy tale stroy . We will read the fairy tales of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs in class. The students will create graphic organizers on the elements of a fairy tale and complete them after reading the other two stories. We will then combine the two stories to create a new fairy tale.

due 2/13- complete the Story Parts paper- So, Then and Finally. Use the graphic organizer for our new story to tell what happens in the story. We discussed the Goldilocks and BBW want to be good so they are not known as the bad guys in Fairytale Land, SO what did they do? THEN what happens and FINALLY, how do they get their Happily Ever After. Each section of the story parts should be written in complete sentences and have 2-3 sentences per section. We will begin to write in our 4 square pattern to include more details if necessary.

2nd Grade-Read story of John Henry and retell a tall tale.

due 12/1:story parts for your Tall Tale. Use your fluff questions to make sure you have answered and given all the detail you need. if you write a sentence, make sure you can't ask, why? if you can, you need to add more details.

due 12/22-4 square due with 2-3 sentences in each square. You may use the squares for more than one part of the story. You may have 2 somebodys or 2 wanted or 2 then or 2 finallys.

due 1/5-sloppy copy of tall tale. please skip a line on the sloppy copy for editing.

due 1/12- sloppy copy must be finished. read through your sloppy copy and underline in red the sentneces starters that begin with -he, she, it, they, him them, her... highlight with yellow highlighter all the WOW sentence starters you have used-highlight only the sentences starter word.

3rd Grade- Show and Tell. Use our adjectives to describe an ocean/sea creature-without revealing the animals name.

due 11/21: sloppy copy of cinquain poem on your sea creature. use your descriptive words for the show don't tell poems.

due 11/28: good copy of cinquain poem. we will begin designing the power points in class. You must have your poem finished in order to start your power point.

4th Grade- bring in 3 pictures of your extreme weather and 1 picture of an area that experiences this weather. Please use a flash drive to save your pictures on to bring to class. We will design a travel brochure for this area and let tourists know what they need to bring to prepare for the extreme weather.

due 12/1: work on travel brochure. You may change the font style and color. I have added the new information text boxes and where they belong on the new template. Do Not save this-it will erase all your other work. Just pull it up as a reference to see where you need to add your new information. I will add it to the Creative Writing Documents.

due 12/22-final copy of travel brochure. make sure all fonts are the same size for headings and you have completed all categories. Add color toyour text boxes or change the font style or color to match your brochure. Have fun and be creative!!

Make sure you are completing you works cited information. This needs to be turned in with your completed brochure.

due 1/12- find a visitor center for your state and copy the adress and exact name of the visitor's center. Begin writing some questions you would like to ask about your state and possibly some facts you would like to know.....how many visitor's a year travel there, what is the most popular destination.....etc.
