Parents,
Happy New Year!! We hope you enjoyed the holidays with your families.
It is such a busy, hectic time, but hopefully you were able to relax and
rejuvenate yourselves for the new year ahead. We hope you liked the
children’s Christmas performance as much as we did, they all did a great
job. Thank you to our Tea helpers, Mrs. DePietress, Mrs. Facius and
Mr. Wimalendran, a good time was had by all. We appreciate all of your
donations for the party.
We will ease in to the new year as we come back together after a long break.
The children are always so excited to see their friends again, we will spend
some time getting back in to our classroom routines. We will take a day to
talk about their holidays and their favorite Christmas gift. We will also make
some New Years crafts, and discuss just what a “year” is. We will even have
a live demonstration of how it takes the Earth 365 days to go around the sun.
We will also continue to work on some of the Kindergarten readiness check
points, such as scissor cutting, using pencils and crayons, writing their names
in capital letters, recognizing the alphabet and numbers 1-10, co-operativeness,
social skills, and other areas that will deem the children ready for that next big
step in their academic lives. If you ever have any questions concerning this, please
don’t hesitate to ask us. Of course we will touch on these issues at Parent
Conferences in March.
We will soon begin parent observations in our classroom in preparation for
conferences. More information on this will be available soon. “Show and Tell”
will resume this week with Aidan and Brendan. Let’s keep our fingers crossed
for good weather and not too many delays or closings. We look forward to
seeing everyone’s smiling faces soon. Have a good first week of 2010!!
