Hello everyone!
Well, I have no clue where these past few weeks have gone, but I am looking
forward to seeing everyone again on Wednesday. I had the pleasure of seeing
Mrs. Freundel and sweet Gracyn today and they are both doing very well. I
hope to have pics for all to see by next week if not this Wednesday.
This week, we will gradually get back into the groove with a fun project. In
class, we will work on building a snowman with primary color clothing for the
hat, scarf and gloves. I also have a fun project that all you need is your
imagination and a little creativity with your child. On Wednesday, I will
send home a picture of a blank snowman, and the family will be asked to work
together and create a fun-looking snowman with materials you have lying
around the house. Please, no need to run out and purchase materials to
complete your project...creativity is a must and anything goes. The only
thing I ask is that no peanut products be used as decoration or a form of
adhesive (peanut butter) due to the food allergies in our class. I would
very much like to hang these pieces of creativity from out classroom ceiling
to celebrate all of the hard work the kids and their families have put into
it. These will remain with us for the Month of January and will be sent home
in February. We are also asking each family to bring in clean, white short
or long-sleeved T-shirt or sweatshirt in the sizes that each parent currently
wear by 1/13/10. This is for a secret project that will make it's appearence
in the near future :) Preferrably, new, free of stains and laundered.....you
will definitely see why when the time comes!
This month we will also celebrate many other aspects of Winter! We will make
snowflakes, Polar Bears, and wrap the month up with the farm show! Keep an
eye on the bulletin board outside Room 2 for upcoming information to help
guide you through the month of January :) We will play the "Mitten Matching
Game" during circle time....learning more of our colors and of course our
January Finger Play which is as follows:
January Finger play:
One little snowman sitting on a chair
Along came another and now there’s a pair
Another little snowman came so now there are three
Please scoot over and make room for me!
Practice, practice, practice....the kids love it!!!
Now a note from the Preschool Director, Mrs. Kathy Kuhn:
KINDERGARTEN READINESS PRESENTATION
At 7:30 PM on January 14, Mrs. Pennie Cavanaugh will be our
guest to talk about kindergarten readiness and “red shirting” from
a teacher’s perspective. This is an opportunity for you to hear an
off-the-cuff presentation from Mrs. Cavanaugh, a former CHPC
Preschool teacher and now a kindergarten teacher in the East
Pennsboro School District. This presentation is for adults only and
will be held in the Reception Room of the church (near the kitchen).
Light refreshments will be served.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday.
Mrs. Bowers :)
