November Monthly Newsletter
We had an exciting month of special activities. The children did a great job
marching in our Halloween Parade. They were all very brave and adorable in
their costumes. Remember what an odd event a costume parade can be,
especially for the first time. The children were both curious and cautious
during our pumpkin carving. The sight, smell and texture of a pumpkin were
interesting to them. Many enjoyed the pumpkin goo in play-dough-like
fashion as a tabletop for the morning. Jack O’ Lanterns have been a great
way to talk about faces and feelings. We encourage the children to use their
words as they navigate the challenges of sharing and turn-taking. We are
very proud of their progress.
We will be working on scissoring throughout the year in different stages.
Watch your child’s backpack for the leftover pieces and see how well they
improve. Our spooky ghosts were the benchmark craft for scissoring. We will
learn about sequencing through the different phases of a pumpkin’s growth.
As we watch the fall colors arrive, we will be talking about the change of
season and using those fall colors in our artwork.
The children have been doing a terrific job putting on their own coats at
school. They beam with pride when they’ve done it themselves. Thanks for
your support when practicing the ‘Up and Over’ prompt at home. The
confidence that results from the building of independence skills will be
invaluable to the children as they grow.
We are excited to have such a great PAC representative in Mrs. Walters.
Contact her with any questions or concerns regarding general school
operations like parking problems, Extended Day, fundraisers et al. Please
address any specific classroom concerns with me, Mrs. Taylor. Thank you for
keeping updated by reviewing information posted in the hallways and sent home
in your children’s backpacks. A lot happens at preschool!
Our Thanksgiving Feast will be held on Thursday, November 19th. A sign-up
sheet will be posted in the hallway. Everyone will have the opportunity to
bring something to share, just as it was on the first Thanksgiving. We will
be reading stories and talking about Thanksgiving and how important it is to
help one another.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. There is much to be thankful for.
Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Poppleton
