Mrs. Blickley's 3's

With one of the most exciting times of the year under our wings and gone with
the blink of an eye we prepare for November and the Great Feast of
Thanksgiving. A special thank you is extended to Mr. Montgomery, who filled
in last minute to carve our pumpkin into a Jack-O-Lantern. The kids loved
it.

We would like to thank Mrs. Janine O'Shell again for being our Parent
Advisory Committee Representative, whom attended the 1st me
eting of the year on October 22nd. Please take time to introduce yourself
while at school and if you have any Preschool concerns during the school year
please feel free to mention them to her.

The children know our daily schedule well and this is comforting for them.
They all look forward to the next activity in our day with great enthusiasm
and believe it or not “clean-up” brings the most excitement of the day.
We’ve never seen kids move so fast to clean-up, makes us chuckle. November is
a peaceful time of the year for me as our busy world seems to slow down
around us for just a while as Mother Nature prepares us for the colder days
ahead.

Families begin to prepare for Thanksgiving and reflect upon the things in
their lives they are thankful for. We will be using this as the focus of our
theme, stories, and crafts this month. We will keep our classroom decorated
with our autumn leaves the kids made and will send them home just before our
Thanksgiving break. Our scarecrow will also remain outside our door until
then as well. We will begin our month talking about Fruits & Vegetables and
other healthy foods that help us grow and make us strong. We will talk about
the food pyramid and make a simple one to keep at home as a reminder. We will
talk about good manners and learn how to set the table. Many of you have been
providing very healthy snacks, Thank You.

With healthy foods as part of our focus this month it is important that the
kids see this in our snacks during school as well. Please refer back to the
snack suggestion list we handed out at back-to-school night. We’ll post this
on the hallway bulletin board as well and if you need a copy please let us
know. The week of 11/11 – 11/13 we will talk about the Pilgrims and Indians
and how they became friends.

We will spend craft time making our costumes for our feast. Keeping with
tradition we will paint an Indian Vest and make feathered headb
ands to wear. I remember this craft from when my son attended the 3’s
program at CHPC 6 years ago. Wow time flies.

The week of 11/18 – 11/20 will be spent on “preparations” as we prepare for
our December display case art project, finish our feast day costumes by
making a beaded necklace, and getting ready for our big feast on Friday the
20th. We will hang a special snack list for our feast outside the classroom
which allows everyone to participate in a small way during our Feast.

Extended Day or Lunch Bunch started back in October and is an optional
activity that your 3 year old child may attend. This time is great for
additional social interaction, free play, and to have lunch with friends. I
will be hosting extended day/lunch bunch on Thursday, November 19th in our
classroom, so if this is something you’ve been thinking about and not quite
sure this would be an ideal time for your child to give it a try. Those
interested need to sign-up outside Mrs. Kuhn’s office and pay the fee of $6
per session. Lunch bunch ends at 1:30 pm and your child needs to bring their
own lunch & drink.

Important Reminders & Notes of Interest:·
Please don’t forget to form a single line along the wall opposite our
classroom door for dismissal time. The line should begin at the double glass
doors and run along the wall. Thank You J ·

If your child is feeling under the weather, overly tired, or has a runny
nose, please keep them home and let them rest and encourage them to cough or
sneeze into their elbow.
