B3 – Monthly News December The weather outside has become a little frightful with gusting winds and lowertemperatures, a good sign that winter is on its way. We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and would like to send a special thank you to Mrs. Leone and Mrs. Tozzi for helping us with our classroom Feast that was held on 11/20/09. As we begin to bundle up we also need to prepare ourselves for the most excitingtime of the year for young children … Christmas. We know the children will beoverwhelmed with general excitement of the season; therefore we will keep a simple schedule by spending extra time on our crafts and learning a few extra songs in preparation for our Christmas Tea on December 18th. We will also take a break from our show & tell this month and will resume again in January. The children will be working on many different crafts and activities this month, but many of them will remain a surprise or be used in our classroom so please be patient when you don’t see pictures in the hallways or in the backpacks … the best things come to those whom wait. We will start to teach the kids proper hand washing at the sink with soap and water this month as well as introduce the “up & over” for putting on their coat. Both of these promote independence and increase self esteem. General Schedule: Our first week back, 12/2 – 12/4, we will make snowflakes for our classroom, decorate our Christmas tree, and paint a tree of our own to take home later in the month. The following week, 12/9 – 12/11, we will make a Gingerbread house and other special gifts for our families. Our last week, 12/16 – 12/18, will be a very exciting week with a special visit from Santa on the 16th and our Christmas Tea on the 18th. Special Note of Thanks: Thank you for forming a single line along the wall opposite our classroom door for dismissal time. This makes our job easier and more efficient. Thank You.
