Parents,
The countdown to Christmas Day continues. As busy parents, we all wish
we had a few more weeks to prepare for the holidays. In between all the lists
and “have-to-do’s”, remember to cherish that one special moment when you
say to yourself “this is what Christmas is all about”. It usually happens when
we’re not looking for it!!
A big “thank you” to Mr. Ryan for sharing his train set with us last week. The
children all enjoyed having a turn to run the train and asked Mr. Ryan some very
good questions about his hobby. It was even more special that the train he brought
to share was the “Polar Express”. What a great way to end a busy week! And, just
an FYI, if anyone needs information on how to make table centerpieces out of
pinecones, see Mrs. Sayed, she is officially an expert. She may be seeing pinecones
in her sleep soonJ
This week we will finish preparing for our Christmas Tea/Party performance. The
children have been practicing their songs everyday(we understand some are practicing
at home, good for them!)and working on our Christmas crafts. All of their efforts will
finally come home this week.
As a reminder, our Tea/Party is on Thursday at 10:30, in Fellowship Hall. Please be
prompt, we will try to wait for all parents to arrive before we begin singing. Following
the performance, our party will be held in the rear of Fellowship Hall. Please drop off
your party contribution in the morning when you bring the children to school. If possible,
please have the food “table ready” on a plate or container. This will make our party helpers
job easier. Don’t forget your cameras and your applause, the children will deserve it!! Please
come back to the classroom after the party to pick up coats and backpacks.
Santa will pay a visit to our classroom on Tuesday. He enjoys talking to each child
individually and hands them a special treat. If any of the children are not fond of the
“Big Guy”, not to worry, we would never insist they visit with him.
On Wednesday we will have “Pajama Day”. We hope to unwind from all of the week’s
excitement with a movie and popcorn. The children may wear PJ’s, robes and slippers
to school. If they are not comfortable with this idea, maybe they would rather just wear
slippers. We also would like to move “Show and Tell” to Wednesday as Thursday will
be busy with our Tea. Adin and Shivaan are our “Show and Tellers” this week.
You should all be very proud of your children. Our days have been anything but orderly
and routine, and they are handling the disruptions beautifully. Both of us hope that all of
you have a wonderful time celebrating Christmas and all other special days that your families
hold meaningful. We also wish you a very happy New Years!! We will all be back together
on Monday, January 4,2010, rested and re-energized, ready to work hard learning and having fun.
