Dear Parents,

The BOOK IT! Program will begin October 1, 2009 until March 31, 2010. The Third Grade Class will be participating. The students’ participation is mandatory and will count toward their English book report grades.

The students will be required to read two books a month. A large chapter book may count for two books. The students will need to show me the book and I will make the determination.

A different form for the reports will be followed each month.

October—A picture and a few sentences about the story

November—A story sequence report with a form that I

will provide

December—A story map with a form that I will provide

January—A Book Review with a form that I will provide

February—A picture dictionary page of new words from

the book, paper and instructions will be

provided

March—A written book report with a form that I will

provide

When the monthly goal has been met, the student will get a pizza award certificate good for a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza. In addition, the student will receive a BOOK IT bookbag tag. If the student meets the reading goals for six months, they will receive an All-Star Reader certificate and a voucher to bring to a participating Pizza Hut restaurant for their special All-Star Reader Award.
