About The Teacher

Hi Everyone and welcome!  My name is Heather Pitcavage and I teach first grade
here at DES.  I began in 2003 teaching grade 5. After one year I moved into
first grade and I simply love it here.

I was born and raised here in the lovely Back Mountain, specifically the
Shavertown area. I am a graduate of Dallas High School and Wilkes University.
I have a Bachelor's degree in English from Wilkes University as well as
Teacher Certification in both Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I 
have a Master's Degree in Educational Development and Strategies also from 
Wilkes University.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking and gardening.  I simply love my
plants. I also enjoy finding new and exciting activities for my students.
Every year is a new adventure with a wonderful and exciting new group of
students and parents.

My classroom is a very unique place for everyone to grow and learn.  Please
check this web page as well as notes home for information.  There are many
opportunities to come and visit, help, read and play with us each and 
everyday.

I am very excited about this year and know it will be a wonderful experience 
for us all.
