About The Teacher
Education: Associate Degree: Early Childhood Education (Pre-school - 3rd grade) Bachelor Degree: Elementary Education (Kindergarten - 6th grade) Masters Equivalency: Education Graduate Credits: M.E.+ 36 graduate credits in Education Certification: Early Childhood Education Elementary Education Montessori Education Teaching Experience: 20 years teaching children from 3 years old to 8th grade. This is my 6th year teaching first grade at Dallas Elementary. Personal notes: I am married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years and we have 2 wonderful children. Tommy is now a junior at Eastern University and Sarah has graduated from Kings College and has moved to Nashville, TN. Our home is surrounded by many beautiful trees and I can't wait to share my stories about the deer, the occasional bear and the other animals that visit our backyard. The fall season is very special in our home, not only is it the start of a wonderful new school year, it is also football season! Whenever I get the chance I love to watch professional football, especially the Minnesota Vikings! We each have our favorite team, and it makes for some exciting Sunday afternoons. Go Vikings! But my absolute strongest passion is teaching. Planning exciting activities for my students is something that I really enjoy doing, I love to see the joy of discovery in a child's eyes. There is no greater gift a teacher can receive than to see that special look or awesome smile that comes with learning! I am very excited to be a part of the Dallas School District, and look forward to meeting the children. I know this will be a very special year for everyone.
Mission Label:
Mission
Every child has the right to learn in way that is meaningful to them. Every child has the right to be respected and treasured for the strengths and gifts they bring to the class community. Every child has the need to learn how to be respectful to others and themselves. My goal is to provide opportunities for each child to reach their personal learning potential by using hands on materials. Along with individualized lessons, the children will have opportuniites to cooperate in small and large groups, so that they are not only learning, but teaching others. Together we will create an environment where each child feels safe, and knows that they are respected and treasured for the individual they are!
