What is the Dibels?

Dibels is a test we
give school wide to
measure different
areas of early
literacy skills.  In
Kindergarten we
measure initial
sound fluecy,
phoneme
segmentation, letter
naming fluency, and
nonsense words
fluency.  In first
grade we measure
phoneme
segmentation,
nonsense word
fluency and oral
reading fluency.  In
second grade we
measure nonsense
word fluency and
oral reading
fluency.  In grades
3, 4 and 5 we
measure oral reading
fluency.
