What can you tell me about the Reading curriculum?
The Dallas School District utilizes the Scott Foresman Reading
series. It is a literature-based integrated program which means
that various award winning stories have been compiled and are
used as a springboard to strengthen reading, vocabulary, phonics,
grammar, and writing skills.
What can you tell me about the Math curriculum?
The Dallas School District utilizes the Everyday Mathematics

What is the procedure regarding book orders?
Periodically your child will be bringing home book order forms.
If you wish to make a purchase, please correctly indicate items
on the order form and write submit payment by check made out to
Scholastic. I usually send home more than one order form, but
only one check is needed. Students are generally given two weeks
to return book orders.
What is the procedure regarding birthdays?
We will celebrate each child's birthday in the classroom. If you
are sending in a treat please be sure to make snacks and drinks
individual and limit them to the number of people in the
classroom. Summer birthdays are celebrated near the end of the
year. Please send in treats with your child or drop them off in
the office. Our wellness policy states that the children are
able to bring in one "sweet" snack. Therefore they can bring in
cookies or juice boxes, but not both.
What is the procedure for lunch money?
Each student has an account with a pin number to be used in the
cafeteria. Money sent in by parent/caregiver will be forwarded
to the cafeteria and placed on the account. This account will be
used for lunch and milk purchases only. Snack money must be
brought in separately.
What are do I do if I need to change my child's dismissal routine?
Written notification from parent /caregiver of any change in your
child's dismissal is necessary or we must send your child home
the usual way. Anytime your child is to be picked up, send a
note and check in at the office and wait for your child there.
Any person picking up your child is required to have some form of
identification.
What do I need to know about absences?
Excuses for absences are required when your child returns to
school. If your child is absent for more than one day please
contact me for the work to be sent home. For anticipated long-
term absences students will be expected to give the principal a
picture and sentence report.
