Business Law is an elective quarter course.  We discuss the origins 
of Law (Justinian Code, Napoleonic Code, Common Law); the 
development of United States Law (The Constitution, Bill of Rights, 
Separation of Powers); the United States Court System (steps in a 
Trial, Local Courts, State Courts, Federal Courts); Criminal Law 
(Felonies, Misdemeanors, Petty Offenses, Steps in the Criminal Justice
System); Civil Law (Torts, Steps in the Civil Justice System),
Juvenile Law (Guardian Ad Litem, Emancipation, Age of Majority,
Juvenile Rights versus Majority Rights, Adoption, School Law)and
Contract Law ( requirements of a legal binding contract, types of
contracts, quasi contracts).  Current/Changing Laws are debated and
discussed. 

Grades are determined through testing and a project.  Good 
notetaking skills are required.  Lessons are presented through
PowerPoint presentations, and discussions. This is an interesting,
essential class for those interested in pursuing social work, the
legal field, law enforcement, or for those who are interested in
learning more about general law.

Nightly homework for the class is to review chapter notes.  Class 
does include a comprehensive final exam.
