Description: The course is an introduction to Spanish
language and culture. It is designed
to be used with the National
Standards for Foreign Language encompassing
Communications,
Cultures, Connections, Comparisons and
Communities. This
book series is interactive. Students will be visiting
authentic websites designed to enhance learning. Spanish 1
covers
chapters 1-5
(lessons 1-10). Spanish 2 finishes the text.
Requirements: Students will come to class every
day ready to put forth the effort it takes
be successful. They will
bring all the necessary materials with them,
their text book, notebook,
assignments and writing utensils, as well
as any supplemental work or projects.
Format: All the material is
presented by methods that utilize multiple intelligences.
Every student will have the
opportunity to learn according to his or her own
style. Activities include
taking notes, practicing vocabulary, listening,
reading, writing and
speaking.
Homework: Counts!
Whether checked daily or stored in the notebook- Points will be
given as part of your
notebook grade each marking period.(2)
Due dates: All work has to be turned in
when it’s due.( or lose credit or get a zero)
Loss of credit is 5 points a day.
Absence: It’s your responsibility
to ask about what went on while you were absent.
On a block schedule- if you are absent- you miss a lot!
Extra help: If you need more help just
ask. Arrangements will be made.
Evaluation: The usual quizzes and tests,
as well as dialogues(oral), small projects
and the notebook will all be used to determine your grade. Your points
are divided into my point total for you grade.
Final exam: A comprehensive final is
given in this class during exam time. It covers all
the chapters we study. It is usually a multiple- choice format.
Tutorial: Mandatory if you are
failing the course.
