Content	This nine-week survey course will cover the foundations of geography
and focus on the seven continents. We will dissect regions of the world and
connect current problems of resource depletion and sharing as well as events
that impact on a global level.
Structure	The structure will be student centered with an emphasis on research
and journal entries. Video and audio will be used when appropriate. This
will include “The little Ice Age” which discusses effects of climate change on
populations. Some lecture will be used to facilitate research.
Assessment	Journals will be evaluated, class attentendance and participation
will account for a major portion of the grade and three tests will be
administered throughout the duration of the course. A point system will be
utilized. Any late work should be turned in but 10% per day will be deducted
from the grade.
Expectations	It is expected that the student will stay on task and complete
journals and research assignments daily. Regular attendance is required to be
successful. The student should respect the teacher, his or her peers and all

assigned should be accomplished in a timely fashion for the benefit of the
student.
