                your fellow students from learning”

the phone until the end of class. Your cooperation is really appreciated.

World History Academic Syllabus
Mrs. Kupstas/Room 15
Content World History formerly Western Civilization is a survey course
designed for college bound students. We will study the origins and impact of
Western Civilization. Our timeframe begins with the Agricultural revolution BC
and continues to Post Napoleonic re-organization of Europe (circa 1815). This
will include Greece, Rome and the medieval era.

Structure An Organized Notebook is required. You well be graded on your
notebook each quarter. Lecture, research, writing and video appropriate to the
material will be used. All information presented in the class is testable. In
order to maintain class work participation grade the student must stay on task.

Expectations Regular attendance is necessary to maintain a solid average. If
you miss time, YOU are responsible to obtain notes and other missed materials.
Any tests missed will be made up upon your return at flex. Everything counts.
Check this web page for assignments at least 2 times per week.10% of your
grade point average is class participation.

Grading A point system is used and in the end the points you earned will
be divided by possible points and the grade you get is the grade you get!
Points are earned through a variety of assessments. Class participation and
research as well as attendance counts toward your final average. Things turned
in late will have points deducted from the grade. (10% per day)
The final exam is cumulative. It is my belief that if you are in a class for
an entire semester the student should be able to take and pass an overall
general test on all material covered.

Homework You are required to read notebook and other material covered in
class nightly. Other outside assignments will be designated throughout the
semester. These are in conjunction with the nightly re-reading of notes. Both
are necessary to achieve the optimum results.

Extra help is available during flex. See me to schedule what works for you.

Remember, you are required to keep a notebook in pen. Use of PENCILS will
result in a deduction of points!
