Welcome to Dallas Middle School! In this school term, 2009-2010, for the
first quarter the sixth grade students will have Study Skills, the seventh
grade students will have Money Matters and the eighth grade classes will
have Career Awareness. Last year Dallas Middle School introduced a new
program sponsored by Junior Achievement called Finance Park for the seventh
grade Money Matters classes.
Beginning with second quarter the Family & Consumer Science classes will be
sewing. All students will learn some basic hand sewing skills and then will
progress to using the sewing machine. Each student will be responsible for
completing a project: The sixth grade classes will make a pillow. The
seventh grade classes will make either a drawstring gym bag or a tote bag.
The eighth grade classes will make a pair of elastic waist shorts.
The eighth grade students will need to purchase their own fabric for their
shorts project. A letter will be sent home on the first class of the quarter
with all of the details.
Room #102 will be a busy site with everyone practicing their handstitches and
sewing their projects. Thimbleman will be waiting to pass on some important
information.
