The 2007-2008 school year will mark my fourth year as assistant principal of
Dallas Middle School. Coupled with five years of teaching fifth grade, I am
enjoying my9th overall year at Dallas. That translates into an unwavering
belief in our district’s mission and vision, a much-deserved respect for our
faculty and staff, and sincere, genuine appreciation for our community
anchored with empathy and an ethic of care for our students.
As assistant principal my primary responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, both academic and co-curricular student activities and
opportunities. Beyond the central focus of students, teacher
evaluations, instructional leadership, supervision and the day-to-day
operation of the school are all responsibilities of the assistant principal.
My study of Educational Leadership, resulting in a Master’s degree and
principal certification from Wilkes University, caused me to attain
background in all areas of administration, including school safety,
supervision, instruction, curriculum, assessment and data analysis. I am
currently participating in the Pennsylvania Department of Education's
Inspired Leadership Initiative, a focused cohort of school principals
developing leadership abilities toward improving student achievement. I
also serve as an adjunct instructor at both Wilkes University and College
Misericordia teaching education courses on both the undergraduate and
graduate levels. I am also a student of Wilkes University's Ed.D program,
working toward my doctorate.
Having said that, my focus remains Dallas Middle School students and their
academic, social, and emotional progress. Perhaps no other place allows for
the participation in the facilitation of student development in so many
multifaceted areas. Great things happen at the Dallas Middle School, and it
is truly a privilege to be surrounded by those successes.
