Daily Routine:
Each student is expected to:
1) Arrive to class on time.
2) Come prepared to class with their notebook, homework, and a pencil.
3) Have their homework ready to be checked when the bell rings.
4) Complete the problem(s) of the day located on the chalkboard.
Grades:
Grades are determined by a point system.
Tests and quizzes: approximately 350 points
Homework: approximately 100 points
Notebook, problem of the day, performance grade: approximately 60 points
TOTAL POINTS: approximately 510 points
Tests and Quizzes:
All tests and quizzes are derived from problems solved in the notebook and homework assignments. Tests and quizzes will be announced on the homework page of my website and announced verbally to the students by me. A review sheet will be provided to students before any test. Students must use a pencil while taking tests/quizzes. If a student uses pen, points will be deducted. Students that only miss the day of the review must take the test on the test date. If a student misses instructional time he/she will not be required to take the test on the test date.
Homework:
Each homework assignment is worth 5 points.
Late homework will not be accepted for any reason. Assignments not turned in at the beginning of class on their due date will be recorded as a zero.
There is no partial credit for homework. If the assignment is not complete, it will be recorded as a zero.
It is the student's responsibility to obtain any assignments they miss due to an absence.
All assignments will be posted on the homework page of my website.
Notebooks:
Every student must maintain a notebook for the entire year. Notebooks are expected to be organized. All notes and handouts should be kept in the notebook. The notebook will be checked periodically throughout the quarter. A sample notebook is on display in the classroom. All tests and quizzes come from the notes and handouts.
Progress Reports:
Every student will be issued a progress report approximately half way through each quarter. The progress report must be signed and turned in the following day. The progress report will include every quiz and test to date.
Calculators:
Every student is assigned their own calculator during the school year. It is the student's responsibility to bring their calculator to class. Each student will be held responsible for a lost or damaged calculator (price to replace is $15).
Absenteeism:
Upon return to school, 3 days will be given to make up any graded assignments. Graded assignments include homework, tests/quizzes, notebook quizzes, and problem of the day quizzes. Failure to complete the missing assignments will result in a zero. Students may check the district website for any assignments.
Extra Credit:
There is no extra credit.
Tutoring:
Tutoring is every morning (Monday - Friday) from 7:30 - 7:45.
Tutoring is available from 7:15 - 7:45 on quiz and test dates.
Any student interested in tutoring should come with the material they need help with. This will ensure a productive session.
It is the student's responsibility to report to my room (111) when they arrive at the school.
