Narrative Prompt Change is a part of all of our lives. What changes have you gone through in your life? Tell a story describing a change that you dealt with in your life. Explain the effects of this change on your life and what you learned from this experience. Informational Prompt The dictionary defines success as “the satisfactory completion of something.” But, each of us has a different idea of what that something is. What do you think makes people successful? Write an informational essay explaining three accomplishments that would make you feel successful. Describe why these things are so important to you. Persuasive Prompt Imagine the Dallas Middle School did especially well in the magazine sale last year. With the extra money, Mr. Duffy would like to invite a special speaker to the school. He needs your suggestions! Write a letter to Mr. Duffy suggesting a speaker you think would be worthwhile to invite to the middle school. Be sure to include THREE reasons to convince Mr. Duffy that your speaker is the best. Imaginative Prompt It was a great day outside when Jen awoke at 6:00am. It was so nice out that she decided to get up and go for a walk. It was almost as if the weather was calling to her. When she stepped outside, she heard a noise and decided to follow it. Starting your story at 6:00am, SHOW what happens to the character. Use many details to show, not tell. You MAY change the name of the character if you desire, but remember that the following things NEED to happen in your story: Character wakes up. Character decides to go for a walk. Character hears some kind of noise. Character follows the noise.
