Wycallis Elementary:

Dear Parents,
We encourage our students to practice their reading skills
throughout
the summer so as not to lose the valuable reading skills gained
throughout
the year.
We have compiled a list of suggested reading books for
summer reading.
Students may choose books from the grade they are entering or the
grade they
have completed.
Students who achieve their goal will be recognized with a
certificate
when we return to school in September. Below is a list of
suggested
books for each grade. (These are suggestions to get you
startedfeel free
to add to the list.) Please complete the Summer Reading form
below
and return it to school with your child in September. Have a
wonderful
summer and I hope you enjoy many wonderful stories.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Caitlin Cooper

Dallas Elementary:

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Studies have shown that it is important to continue reading
through the summer months to keep the gains made throughout the
school year. Each student at Dallas Elemetary School is asked to
read a least one book per week during the summer break.
Wonderful Summer Reading Programs are offered at Barnes and Noble
and our own local Back Mountain Memorial Library. I suggest you
sign your child up for at least one of these programs for the
summer. The Suggested Summer Reading Book List is a mere
suggestion to assist parents in choosing books to read with your
child. A simple system to know if a book is at an appropriate
reading level for your child is "The Five Finger Rule". Simply
open the book to a page in the middle and have your child read
the page to you. Hold up a finger for every word not known. If
you have five or more errors the book is too difficult for your
child to read independently. Happy Reading!
