LANGUAGE ARTS: STORY: No story this week
VOCABULARY WORDS:
SPELLING PATTERN: No spelling this week
WRITING: We are writing in our journal and practicing good
sentence structure. We are dicussing the writing process
and writing "How To" paragraphs using sequence words.
MATH: Chapter 3: Place Value to 100 and Money
***Please make sure your child is practicing their addition
and subtraction math facts every day! Flashcards are a great
way to do this.
HANDWRITING:
We are practicing slant print to get ready for cursive mid-year.
We are creating animal poems to practice.
SCIENCE: Chapter 3: Looking at Habitats
SOCIAL STUDIES: Unit 2: Our Government
PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ AT LEAST 20 MINUTES AND STUDY SPELLING
EVERY NIGHT. YOUR CHILD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WRITING HIS/HER
NIGHTLY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS IN THEIR AGENDA BOOKS. THESE CAN
BE CHECKED NIGHTLY. NO HOMEWORK ON THE WEEKEND!

Suggestions for Choosing Books:
Author and series
Favorite genre, hobbies, etc.

Newspapers and magazines
Recommendations from teachers or friends
Try a type that you have never read before
Reread a favorite!
The "five finger" rule helps students find "just right" books.
Students read a page of the text and hold up a finger for each word that
they do not know. If they have five fingers up before they finish the page,
that book is probably too hard for independent reading.
