Mrs. Wildauer

Dear Parents,

Welcome to second grade.  I hope this year will be rewarding and special for your child.  Please take a few moments to look over the information about your child's new classroom.

The following is your child's schedule for specials:

Day 1 - Computer

Day 2 - Library

Day3 - Gym

Day 4 - Music

Day 5 - Art

Birthday treats are welcome on your child's birthday if you so choose. We celebrate the birthdays during lunch.

If you see DT on a paper, it means we did this page together as a class.  If you see CT on a page it means we corrected it together.  These papers are not graded.

It would be appreciated if each child could bring in a box of Kleenex and/or a bottle of hand sanitizer to be shared with the class throughout the year.

Your child will be responsible for writing down the homework assignments and taking home the assignment/agenda book everyday.  Please sign it nightly so I know that you saw it.  The book should come home and signed even if there is no homework.

Your child's papers will come home on most Fridays in a folder.  Please review the papers with your child.  The reinforcement will be helpful.  Sign and date the folder and return it to school on Monday without the papers.

Guided Reading and Learning Centers will not begin for another month.  It is important for me to get to know your child before I begin.  Your child is also required to read fifteen minutes every school night.  In the agenda book is a monthly calendar.  Please write the name of the story your child read and initial the day on the calendar.  Some days I will be sending home "Take Home Books" that they must read and on Thursdays the basal reader will come home with the story we read in class that week in school.  Friday is a test on the story so please make sure your child reads the story on Thursday evening.

Your child will be taking spelling pretests on Mondays.  If your child misses any words on the test that list will become his/her spelling words for the week.  If your child gets all of the words correct, a list of enrichment words will come home and those will be your child's spelling words for the week.  The final test will be on Friday.

Your child will have homework that will consist mostly of reading, spelling, and math.

If you ever have any questions please don't hesititate to call or e-mail.  My school telephone number is 474-2600 extension 5204 and e-mail address is bwildauer@ fairview.iu5.org.  I would like to keep the line of communication open.

                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                Mrs. Wildauer
