INFORMATION SHEET

I. REHEARSALS

A. Gold Band: Tuesday and Thursday, Period 8 1:40‑2:25
B. Red Band: Monday and Wednesday, Period 8 1:40‑2:25
C. Jazz Band: Friday, Period 8 1:40‑2:25

II. Rehearsal Procedures

A. Attendance: Required at all rehearsals
B. Preparation: Instrument (In working condition) and Music
C. Attention and Behavior

III. Instrumental Lessons

A. Rotating Schedule: One half-hour lesson a week
B. Attendance: Required unless previously excused.
When absent, see Mr. Skoniczin when you return.

Scale Requirements

Seventh Grade:

Marking Period One: Chromatic, Bb, and F Scales
Marking Period Two: Chromatic, Bb, F, and C Scales
Marking Period Three: Chromatic, Bb, F, C, G and D Scales
Marking Period Four: Chromatic, Bb, F, C, G and D Scales

One octave memorized
All scales tongued and slurred in half and quarter note pattern

EXTRA CREDIT: Two octaves memorized

Eighth Grade:

Marking Period One: Chromatic, Bb, F, C, G and D Scales
Marking Period Two: chromatic, Eb Bb, F, C, G, D, and A Scales
Marking Period Three: Ab, Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, A, and E Scales
Marking Period Four: Ab, Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, A, and E Scales

Two octaves memorized
All scales tongued and slurred in quarter and eighth note pattern

EXTRA CREDIT: As assigned

Marking Period Two: January 11

Scales may be passed off as soon as they are prepared

Rudiment Requirements

Seventh Grade:

Marking Period One: Long 5, 7, 9, 13, 17 stroke rolls and flam tap
Marking Period Two: add flam accent
Marking Period Three: add Chromatic, Bb, F, and C scales on bells
Marking Period Four: add paradiddle, G and D scales

Scales: One octave memorized in quarter notes
Rudiments: In song and at request of instructor

EXTRA CREDIT: Scales: Two octaves memorized

Eighth Grade:

Marking Period One: All previously learned rudiments and scales
Marking Period Two: add flamadiddle, A and Eb scales
Marking Period Three: add flamacue and ratamacue
Marking Period Four: add tune and play the timpani

Scales: One octave memorized in quarter notes
Rudiments: In song and at request of instructor
