Mr. Skoniczin

Welcome to the
Fred S. Engle Middle School
Band Instrumental Team Web Page

This Page is designed to provide a summary of the instrumental program
and to provde concert information and news about the instrumental team.

Goal

The Fred S. Engle Instrumental Team dedicates itself to providing a learning
environment where students are challenged to grow and expand their musical
knowledge and ablities. A variety of concert and class literature, lesson
books, and scale or rudiment exercises form the basis of the course of study.
Self disipline and motivation are key compentents in the success of the
individual student and of the instrumental team as a whole.

Lessons

Each student receives a half hour lesson during the school day. These lessons
will follow a rotating schedule. This enables the student to leave different
classes rather than coming from the the same class to instrumental lessons.
Each student is assigned to a lesson group and day for lessons. To find that
week's scheduled lesson time; go to the correct week number column, then
scroll down the page until you find the correct lesson group (the group is
listed on the folder given at the beginning of the year or see Mr. Skoniczin
for your group). Lesson times are located in the far left hand column. Week
numbers are listed on the Practice Log, television scroll, and in band class.

To acheive excellence, home practice is essential. A minimum of 75 minutes a
week is expected. Students should maintain their Practice Log weekly. This
log is checked at the beginning of each lesson and helps focus the student's
self guided home practice. The student's homework grade is also obtained from
this log.
