If you have any questions about an event or announcement, please send me an email at collinsb@gnasd.com Wednesday, December 16, 2009 Attention All Students: The School District has announced that Wednesday, December 23, will be an early dimissal for the Christmas Holiday. Students will be released from the school by 11:00am. The specific schedule and eveents that will be held on this day will be explained during the coming days. ______________________________________________________________________________ Monday, November 16, 2009 Attention Chemistry I Students: Tuesday 11/17 is out test on Chapters 4 and 12 focusing on ionic and covalent compounds, writing chemical formulas, and naming compounds. Please make sure to study for the test. We will be starting Chapter 5 On Measurements and Formulas on Thursday. It is highly suggested that you have a scientific calculator for this and upcoming chapters. A scientific calculator is a calculator that is able to compute numbers in scientific notation and often include trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan). Remember, the test on this material will be offered on Tuesday, November 17. ______________________________________________________________________________ Friday, November 6, 2009 Attention All Students: Any students that are interested in participating in the Science Olympiad competition in the Spring 2010 should see any of the science teachers for more information. As announced any assignments including tests, quizzes, and labs that are not handed in by the end of the day today will be recorded as a zero grade. If you have any questions, please see me as soon as possible. ______________________________________________________________________________ Thursday, October 22, 2009 Attention All Students: The end of the first quarter is quickly approaching. As of today, the end of the First Marking Period is within two weeks. Please make sure all tests and assignments that need to be be made up are done as soon as possible. Any assignment or test not made up will become a zero at the change of quarters. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your grades, please see me as soon as possible to send me an e-mail. ______________________________________________________________________________ Monday, October 19, 2009 Attention All Students: This week is Spirit Week here at GNA High School. The Student Council and various clubs and organizations have a wonderful selection of activities occuring this week leading up to the final Homecoming celebration on Friday Evening. I encourage you to take advantage of these events and participate in as much as possible. Have some fun! However, please note that for some of these events you must remain within the boundaries of the dress code as well as be able to work and participate in class. ______________________________________________________________________________ Friday, October 16, 2009 Attention All Students: Mr. Collins has finally returned from a bout with illness since Tuesday October 13th. Any student that was absent during that time frame should see Mr. Collins regarding the assignments that were provided in class. Please know that these in class essay assignments will be graded by Mr. Collins upon his return. Attention Chemistry I Students: Last Thursday we had reached the end of Chapter 3 material. We had orginially planned on having the test today, but due to my absence this week, the test is now rescheduled for Wednesday October 21st. Please make sure you are spending time studying for the test over this weekend. ______________________________________________________________________________ Wednesday, October 14, 2009 Attention All JUNIORS: PSAT Testing will be administered to Juniors during the morning class periods (1-3). Any student missing chemistry class should check with another member of the class for the assignment that was provided today. ______________________________________________________________________________ Thursday, October 8, 2009 Attention Chemistry I Students: We have reached the end of Chapter 3 in our textbook today. Please be reminded, over your four day holiday break, please begin to study and prepare for a test to be given no earlier than Friday, October 16. We will begin our test review when classes return on Tuesday, October 13. Between now and then, if you have any questions or comments, please send me an e-mail. ______________________________________________________________________________ Friday, October 2, 2009 Attention All Chemistry I and II Students: Monday is the mid term point of the First Quarter. Mid Term grades will be mailed out to parents on Wednesday October 7th. Mid term grades will be given to students during Monday or Tuesday class period. ______________________________________________________________________________ Friday, September 11, 2009 Attention All Chemistry I Students: With todays class, we have now completed Chapter 1 and 2 from the textbook. The exact date of your first test will be announced early next week. Plan on having your test no sooner than Friday, September 18th. Remember, do not wait to start studying till the last minute. Start now studying in small chunks now. ______________________________________________________________________________ Thursday, September 10, 2009 Attention all JUNIORS: Greater Nanticoke High School will be offering a SAT Preperation Course. All students, especially those that have not taken the SAT, are strongly advised to take advantage of this oppurtunity.
