Growth Screening

Growth Screening
ALL students in Grades KINDERGARTEN thru GRADE 12 will be provided with a measurement of their height and weight on an annual basis. Based on these values, each child's BMI will be calculated and compared to national standards. Parents will be notified if the child's BMI should be followed by by a private health care provider.
The Pennsylvania Public School Code requires health screenings for all school children specific to their grade level. All students in the GNA School District will be provided these screenings in a private and confidential manner. Registered nurse's at the school your child attends will perform the screenings. Parents will be notified if their child fails the school screening with the recommendation for a follow-up by your family physician. All school screenings will be provided free of charge; however, the cost of any private screenings will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian. At the GNA High School, a schedule of these health screenings will be on the calendar posted on the nurse's website.
