An information and referral service and first response point for crisis calls
in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. It operates twenty-four hours a day, 365
days a year manned by trained caseworkers.

2. Alanon/Alateen Family Group-District 30
Alanon is a fellowship of relatives and friends of problem drinkers who wish
to share their experience, strength, and hope with each other to solve their
common problems and to understand the Alcoholism is a disease which affects
the whole family. Alanon provides weekly support group meetings and contact
persons are available to speak with callers by phone. Call the hotline

3. The ARC of Luzerne County
The ARC supports persons with mental retardation and their families.
Services include Representative Payee Program, education, outreach,
information and referral, advocacy services, and parent and sibling support
groups.

4. Big Brothers/Big Sisters
Big Brothers/Big Sisters is a mentoring program operated by Catholic Social
Services. Their mission is provide an opportunity for positive growth and
enrichment to children from single parent families. This is accomplished
through the companionship provided in a trusting and caring relationship with
mentors.
5. Bridge Housing Program
The Bridge Housing Program is a transitional housing program for homeless or
near homeless women and their dependent children. It is operated by the
Domestic Violence Service Center. Services are provided to assist clients in
achieving self-sufficiency. Women who are accepted into the program must
work, seek work, attend job training or be an active community volunteer.
This agency does not provide emergency shelter.
