Floor Hockey Tournament
* Please hand in entries on or before Nov.6, 2006 to Ms. Sowa,
anything after this date will not be accepted. Games will
tentatively begin Dec. 11th week. Entries can be obtained from Miss
Sowa or Mr. Gorham.
* Teams are to be picked by the students ( can be all male, all
female, or coed ).
* Teams may contain students from other gym classes.
9th/10th level 11th/12th level
* Teams can be no more than eight students.
* On the field there are five players plus a goalie.
* The players on the field should be arranged in a formation of
goalie and 2 defenders that stay on their side of the court, where
the other three can move all over.
* The goalie may use his/her hands to stop the puck.
* The goalie may throw the puck on either side of his/her own
goal but not downfield, breaking this rule will result in a penalty
shot for the opposing team.
* The goalie may sprawl or layout in order to block a shot but
may not remain down and must recover to his/her feet quickly. ( i.e.
a goalie may not Lay Down in front of his/her goal for long
periods
of time). Breaking this rule will also result in a penalty shot for
the opposing team.
* The puck is never out of bounds unless it is lost in one of
the
corners of the gym in which case once it is recovered it will be a
drop puck where it was lost.
* While shooting the puck players sticks may be raised only
waist
to shoulder height as they choose in order to strike the puck.
* Body checking and physical play will NOT be tolerated.
* While on a break away tripping of a player either with
physical
contact or with a stick will result in a penalty shot.
* Games will be two TEN minute quarters with a break of
three to five minutes. If a tie game whoever makes the next goal
wins. If we run out of time a shootout will take place. Each team
will shoot three stationary shots.
* Games will be played in any of the following periods:
Monday---Wednesday Period # 1
Monday Period # 6
Tuesday Period # 4 if Needed
Thursday Period # 2 & # 3 & # 6
Period # 4 if needed
Games will be played a maximum of__3__ times per week.
Students are responsible for missed work and can only
participate with the classroom teachers permission.
Below is a Copy of the Permission Slip that will be needed to be
filled out before you can play the Game assigned:

***** I will call a meeting with only 1 person from each team,
that
person will be given the hard copy of the Floor Hockey Rules that
are
posted here and receive the permission slips needed to play the
game. THIS PERSON WILL PASS OUT THE PERMISSION SLIPS TO EACH MEMBER
OF THEIR TEAM, AND EVERY TIME YOU PLAY A GAME YOU MUST SEE ME TO GET
PERMISSION SLIPS AT LEAST 2 DAYS BEFORE YOU PLAY.
EACH PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING THE
INFORMATION NEEDED ON THAT SLIP. POSTED IN THE LIBRARY AND GYM WILL
BE THE TEAM ROSTER NAMES AND TIMES TO BE PLAYED. THIS IS A SINGLE
ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT. 1ST PLACE WILL RECEIVE A MEDAL; 2ND & 3RD
WILL RECEIVE RIBBONS THIS APPLIES TO BOTH TOURNAMENT LEVELS.
Floor Hockey Entries for 10th / 9th Grade Level
and 12th / 11th Grade Level are posted in the Library. Please see
the Library Chart for the Game Dates. All Game
Dates
are posted in the Library. One Person from the team playing see me
about 2 days before so I can give you the permission slips.
The Floor Hockey Tournment has been cancelled due to student behavior.
