1st Grade...
For 1st grade, we have been continuing with practicing "listening" and not
"hearing" with our Song of the week. We just completed our singing , moving,
and playing song entitled "Ebeneezer Sneezer". We are in the midst of watching
and talking about the story and music of The Nutcracker.
2nd Grade...
For 2nd grade, we have also been continuing with practicing "listening" and
not "hearing" with our Song of the week. We have enjoyed singing songs from
our 2nd grade book over the last few weeks and have started our discussion and
viewing of The Nutcracker.
3rd Grade...
The third grade has spent the better part of November preparing for our
recorder experience later this year. We've taken what we know about rhythms
and combined that with notes on the staff in learning to read music! We are
now in the process of ordering our recorders that we will begin to play in
January.
4th Grade...
The 4th grade is in the midst of composing our first melody! We have learned
about the basic inner workings of the Staff as well as note names and rhythms.
We have just started composing during the beginning of December using just the
treble clef.
5th Grade...
The 5th graders were also in the midst of composing their own songs at the
beginning of December. Along with learning about the inner workings of the
Staff, we took it one step further and have learned about the Grand Staff. The
students in 5th grade just finished composing a 6 measure song using the
treble and bass clef at the same time!
