How to develope beginning reading skills!

Help your child to develop beginning reading skills at home. Here are some tips that I use with the children when reading stories in school:

Read a story aloud to your child, pointing to the words as you read. Explain to your child that words help to tell a story. 

Look at the book again. Explain that the pictures help to tell a story, too. This time have your child tell the story using only the pictures. 

 Talk about the sequence of story events. Ask your child what happens first. Then what happens next? What happens at the end of the story?

Please remember the only way your child will become a better reader is by READING!!! Please try reading with your child every night!
